Centro Cultural Benito Juárez
Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico (2019)
In the middle of the Benito Juárez Productive Park lies the cultural center, designed to be the knot that congregates its surrounding community to celebrate, promote and produce art, culture, education and urban productive gardens and methods. All this through the creation of a program to provide spaces for these community-oriented activities to take place.
The architectural problem was solved through an interplay of volumes that allow for sunlight and shade in the correct places, allowing, along with a careful selection of the materials according to their thermic properties, to passively make the building highly energy efficient, sustainable and greatly lowering its maintenance cost; while also creating a functional dynamic between the spaces, their uses and their users.
